Blue straw beads were a common trade bead in both Africa and America. They appear over here strongly in the great lakes trade from the 16-1800’s. These are highly recommended for re-enactors of that era. These strands came out of the African trade, but are identical to the ones traded here. Straw beads in general enjoyed a several century reign, and are one of the often over looked bead styles that are very represetative of the era before the fancies took over in the mid 1800’s. There is quite a range of sizes available, so e-mail for a current picture.
